Do your feet hurt? Has the simple act of walking become painful and uncomfortable?

Most of us take walking, like breathing, for granted. It’s something we do many times a day without even giving it much thought. But for some, the simple act of taking a walk has become a challenge. If foot pain has become such a presence that it’s taking the enjoyment out of your life, READ ON!

Common ailments such as: plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, metatarsalgia, Morton’s neuromas, bunions, fractures in the foot; can lurk beneath the surface. If left untreated, these problems can result in years of agonizing pain, costly reparative surgery and even immobility.

It doesn’t have to be this way!

In most cases, custom arch supports (orthotics) will help relieve, reduce and even eliminate foot pain.

Pain experienced in other parts of the body — ankles, knees, hips and back can often be traced to misalignment of the feet. Bones and ligaments that make up the structure of the foot must absorb a tremendous amount of force and stress while walking

and especially during exercise or sports activities.

Designed to carry us comfortably though our lifetime, feet function best on soft, yielding earth. In nature, walking is easy. The ground yields and supports the whole foot, distributing body weight evenly and gracefully. The bones in the back of the foot are strong, sturdy and solidly connected. They bear weight and absorb the first shock of every step. The bones of the forefoot are more delicate and made for movement. In a healthy foot, the big and little toes line up with the side of the foot. Properly aligned, the big toe helps shift the body weight from one foot to the other.

Posture & balance start at your feet.

Many problems are a direct result of bones in the foot being out of position.  When your feet are not properly supported, your center of gravity shifts from front to back as well as from side to side. This affects your whole body, usually painfully.

What Are Orthotics?

Orthotics are shoe inserts that are intended to correct an abnormal, or irregular, walking pattern. Orthotics are not truly or solely “arch supports,” although some people use those words to describe them, and they perhaps can best be understood with those words in mind. They perform functions that make standing, walking, and running more comfortable and efficient, by altering slightly the angles at which the foot strikes a walking or running surface. Orthotics take various forms and are constructed of various materials. All are concerned with improving foot function and minimizing stress forces that could ultimately cause foot deformity and pain.

Foot orthotics fall into three broad categories: those that primarily attempt to change foot function, those that are primarily protective in nature, and those that combine functional control and protection.

Our Orthotics

Our orthotics are semi-rigid. Strong so they won’t wear out or change shape but flexible to bend and work with the muscles in the feet.

Our orthotic is chiefly designed to control motion in the foot, while still protecting from future injury or normal wear and tear. Strains, aches and pains in the legs, thighs, and lower back may be due abnormal function of the foot. In these cases, our orthotics may improve or eliminate these symptoms.

The process we use to make our custom orthotics is most effective because instead of taking a mold of your foot and positioning it where we think it should be, we use a cast made from a foot that works properly, in order to manipulate your foot to follow its form.

I am a nurse and work 12 hour shifts. My hips & heels use to hurt. After I got my orthotics in 1998 my feet never hurt and I am still wearing them. Thank you.
